About Us

Presented by the Wolfman Triathlon Inc.

Creating a healthier lifestyle by sharing the resources around us and giving back to the community!

The Wolfman Triathlon started in 1994 through the Wolf River Territories Association as a way to highlight the beauty of the Wolf River area as well as give a boost to the tourism for surrounding communities.  Due to the popularity of the event, it continues to bolster the local economy and bring people to the area all summer in hopes of getting a leg up on the competition by running the course a few times before race day.

With more than 350 athletes coming from various locations through the U.S. and Canada, these racers are all vying for the top spot. Racers begin in kayaks/canoes on the very rocky 3-mile class II whitewater section of the Wolf River just north of Langlade. This downriver canoe and kayak leg ends at the DNR landing in Langlade. Racers then pull their boats ashore and sprint to the bike racks for a 13-mile mountain biking portion of the race. After a short ride east on highway 64, the course enters the Nicolet National Forest and the area’s extensive network of challenging technical single-track mountain bike trails. The course eventually exits the National Forest, crosses highway 55 south of Langlade and continues on more purpose built trail culminating with a river crossing near the end of the mountain biking course.  The last leg of the race is a 3-3/4 mile rugged trail run along the scenic Wolf River.

The triathlon’s weekend headquarters is located at the Gardner Dam Adventure Base.  The weekend reflects more of a festival atmosphere with onsite camping, a large tent for all the festivities and live music, SUP and kayak demos, food trucks and outdoor adventure equipment vendors all of which will be available all weekend long.  After racers compete, there is also our traditional locally prepared pig roast, awards presentation, and live entertainment. The Wolfman is also a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, which collaborates with many local organizations resulting in a donation to each of the groups for their efforts.  More than 130 people volunteer from these organizations that help contribute to the success of this event.  All of this having a large influence the community.

Since 2011 when the Wolfman became a 501(c) 3, the Wolfman has donated to over 24 non-profit organizations.  Our revenue has been fed back into the community with our donations as well as through expenses to pull off the event.  In addition, during the Wolfman weekend alone, approx. 2487 participants have visited the area. When factoring in family and friends that number jumps to around 4200 individuals. This does not include those who come to the area during the entire training season prior to the Wolfman.  Individuals have come from many states including Colorado, Iowa, Tennessee, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri. All profits are donated to nonprofit organizations that volunteer to help with the event.

In 2022 - we were able to give over $7000 in donations.

Thanks to these groups who made the 2022 Wolfman possible!
